Curators, programmers, and film professionals from Europe and Africa gather at this online conference to examine the evolving role of curatorial practice within film festivals and cinema spaces, with a focus on fostering professional exchange and collaboration across diverse institutions and cultural settings. The discussion explores film program design at the intersection of selection processes, audience engagement, and institutional frameworks. It moves beyond understanding programming as a purely logistical task, approaching curating as a critical and relational practice that shapes not only the presentation of films but also the formation of professional networks across borders.

Within the framework of Film O’Clock International Festival #6, a transnational platform connecting 12 countries through synchronized screenings and shared viewing experiences, the conference aims to strengthen dialogue between curators, programmers, and cultural institutions, encouraging potential collaborations and future partnerships. It also seeks to create concrete opportunities for professional exchange and long-term collaboration across festivals, archives, and cultural organisations.

Participants will reflect on questions such as: How do curatorial decisions respond to different institutional and cultural contexts? How can programming strategies create long-term collaborations between festivals, cinemas, and cultural organisations? How can shared curatorial frameworks support sustainable international film cooperation?
We invite curators, programmers, and film professionals to join the conversation, share insights, and connect with peers in order to foster future collaborations. This event supports the festival’s ongoing research and networking dimension, contributing to the development of collaborative practices and international exchange in contemporary film culture.
