Directors’ bio:

One of the most prominent Lithuanian children’s filmmakers known as the first Lithuanian director who attempted to reveal a child’s inner world. Commenced his career in film in 1930 as an assistant to the art director. In 1955, A. Žebriūnas became the art director at the Lithuanian Film Studios. In 1960, he debuted as a film director turning the novel The Last Shot (Paskutinis šūvis) into the film THE LIVING HEROES (GYVIEJI DIDVRYIAIG). Later A. Žebriūnas trained under the well- known Russian film director Mikhail Romm in Moscow. One of the best known of his films – THE LAST DAY OF THE HOLIDAYS (PASKUTINE ASTOTOGU DIENA, 1964) – was awarded the All-Union Prize, the Silver Sails Prize at the Locarno Festival and the Grand Prize at the Juvenile Film Festival in Cannes.
